Private construction work across the country shows a 13.3% increase in building permits issued, a 9.2% increase in surface area and a 9.8% increase in volume.
Greek Statistical Office announces preliminary data for December 2019 Construction Activity Survey. In particular:
The total construction activity (private and public) in December 2019 throughout the country on the basis of issued building permits amounted to 1799 building permits, which corresponds to 419.9 thousand sq.m of surface and 1,715.4 thousand cubic m, i.e. increased by 50.3% in the number of building permits, by 39.8% in area and by 26.6% compared to the corresponding month of 2018.
Licenses for private construction activities issued nationwide in December 2019 amounted to 1,791 building permits, which corresponds to 417.3 thousand sq.m of surface area and 1,700.6 thousand cubic m, an increase of 51.7% of building permits, by 49.9% in area and 46.8% in volume, compared to the corresponding month in 2018.
The total number of building permits issued in December 2019 across the country was 8 building permits, which corresponds to 2.6 thousand sq.m of surface area and 14.8 thousand cubic m. The share of state construction in the total construction volume for December 2019 is 0.9%.
During the last twelve months, that is, from January to December 2019, the total volume of construction work (private and public) based on the issued building permits throughout the country amounted to 17,282 building permits, corresponding to 3,778.7 thousand sq.m of surface and 16,551 , 4 thousand cubic m. Compared with the corresponding period of January-December 2018, the number of building permits increased by 12.6%, by 7.0% in area and by 7.1% in volume.
Over the same period, January – December 2019, the activity of private construction shows an increase in the number of building permits issued by 13.3%, by 9.2% in area and by 9.8% in volume, compared to the corresponding period in January – December 2018 the share of state construction in the total volume of construction for the specified period is 1.9%.
