Independent Public Revenue Authority (IPRA): In three days the declaration of transfer of real estate – The new procedure

The declaration of transfer of a property will be completed within three days. A decision signed by the commander of IPRA, Giorgos Pitsilis, establishes a new procedure for real estate transfers, which puts an end to the queues and the inconvenience of taxpayers in the Tax Office.

The declaration of transfer of a property will be completed within three days. With a decision signed by the commander of IPRA, Giorgos Pitsilis, a new procedure is introduced for the transfer of real estate which puts an end to the queues and the inconvenience of the taxpayers in the Tax Office.

This process will be implemented until the full digitalization of capital tax returns.

The process

With the new process:

– All kinds of applications or declarations can be sent by mail , courier or e-mail, as well as submitted to the protocol of the Tax Office.

– In case of electronic sending, an automated message (auto-reply) is sent, which is proof of receipt of the declaration or application. In case of sending by mail or courier, the receipt of receipt from the post office or the courier company is the receipt.

– If the folder of documents is provided correctly, applications and certifications must be processed within three business days. The taxpayer is then notified by message to TAXISnet, where the official copy of the application or certificate, which is requested, is posted.

No visit to the Tax office is required to complete the application.

Within 60 days from the processing of the declarations, the correctness of the content is verified with the current legislation. If errors are found, an invitation to submit an amendment declaration is sent. If the citizen does not meet the deadlines, a control order is issued, which must be carried out.

In IPRA they estimate that with this solution the citizens and the notaries will be served faster and with transparency, without having to wait in line at the Tax Offices, which are already very burdened with all kinds of requests for service of the citizens, accumulated by onset of coronary crisis. Typically, from the first data available to the IPRA, it appears that from mid-March to the end of May, the country’s tax authorities received more than 1 million requests via mail and telephone services and responded to 850,000.

At the same time, the IT services of IPRA are accelerating the electronicization of capital tax returns, which was suspended at the end of 2019, due to the request of notaries, who requested time for adjustment and training in the new system of declarations. The goal is for digital real estate tax returns to be digitalized by 2020, which is the largest volume of capital tax returns.
